Then David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” 2 Samuel 11:8

This is an Old Testament euphemism. David was really telling Uriah to go home and enjoy his wife, not take a footbath. Please, no more bathing scenes, David. Wash your mind out with soap.

So Uriah left the palace, and a gift from the king was sent after him. 2 Samuel 11:8

David was so relieved he sent a gift along—“a mess of meat.”29 Sorta like sending the guy home with the best leftovers wrapped up in aluminum foil and shaped like a swan.

No doubt the meat was enjoyed…the wife, however, was not.
